Begins: 21 March 2024
Location: Medicine Hat, AB
MEDICINE HAT, AB –(COMMUNITYWIRE)– CUPE Alberta will hold a rally on Thursday, March 21 at 12:15 pm outside Danielle Smith’s Constituency Office located at 740 Division Avenue N, Medicine Hat.
The rally will be in protest of the provincial budget underfunding of public services and the government’s unwillingness to address low wages among Alberta workers.
The protest is part of the union’s “Waging Ahead” campaign for wage increases in line with inflation.
“Public services are the backbone of our communities, and fair wages are essential for the well-being of our workers. The current government’s relentless attacks on these fundamental pillars not only undermine the livelihoods of hardworking Albertans but also threaten the very fabric of our society. It’s time to stand together and demand real wages and respect for those who dedicate their lives to serving our communities while condemning the government’s shortsighted and destructive agenda.” – Rory Gil, CUPE Alberta President
The rally aims to advocate for fair wages and quality public services for all Albertans. Participants will gather to demand a real wage increase for workers and to highlight the importance of ensuring the well-being of communities across the province.
